WELCOME TO THE OTOE BATTLEFIELDS!

Our mission is to provide our community the ideals of good sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect that will have a meaningful positive impact on society while enjoying a high-energy, safe, and supportive environment.

The Otoe and Missouria Tribe originated in the Great Lakes Region of the United States. It is believed that they were one tribe with the Iowa, Winnebago and Ho-Chunk people until the 1600’s. In 1881 they were moved to Red Rock, Oklahoma, where the tribe is currently located. There are seven surviving clans in the tribe. These are the Bear, Beaver, Elk, Eagle, Buffalo, Pigeon and Owl.

Today most of the nearly 3,300 tribal members still live in the state of Oklahoma. The tribe is still one of the smaller tribes in Oklahoma but led by a progressive Tribal Council. Tribal members perpetuate tribal traditions with feasts, dances, an annual powwow and song leaders continue lineage, clan and tribal ties. The culture and traditions of a tribe is carried in its people and the Otoe-Missouria are no exception. Today the songs, stories, language and memories of generations is kept by tribal members. After years of subjugation it is no surprise that these things are protected and hold a special place in the hearts of the people.
